Our assignments are simple. 
1) Jabberwocky Essay
2) Portfolio due (This should include all essays that have been returned to date)
3) Write a letter to a loved one. Please include the dress-ups needed to make it a lovely letter. You may type this first submission.
4) JABBERWOCKY RECITATION ON DECEMBER 4!

Bring your finished letter. It may be typed. Once I have proof read it, you may handwrite it and return it to me along with an addressed & stamped envelope.

I will mail it for you.

REMEMBER

• Write a letter to someone you love or someone who is special to you.

• Your letter must be to a real person.

Be sure to use a proper letter writing format. Please check the guidelines below for help.

Banned Words & contractions are allowed

Personal letters, also known as friendly letters, and social notes normally have five parts.

1. The Heading This is where you write the date. In a more formal letter, it may  include your return address.

Skip a line after the heading. 

2. The Greeting The greeting always ends with a comma. 

Dear Uncle David,

3. The body  Also known as the main text. 
This includes the message you want to write. 

The beginning of paragraphs is indented. 

If it is not indented, be sure to skip a space between paragraphs. 

Skip a line after the greeting. AND Skip a line before the close.

4. The complimentary close  This short expression is always a few words on a single line. It ends in a comma.  Skip one to three spaces (two is usual) for the signature line.

5. The signature line  Type or print your name. 

6. Postscript   Although there is no postscript in our example above, it is quite common.
If your letter contains a postscript, begin it with P.S.
Skip a line after the signature line to begin the postscript.
