Book Critiques! Yay!
Your essay is due on March 29, 2013 by email. Please bring the hard copy to class on April 5, 2013. You have had a luxurious three weeks to read a great FICTION book and then write a wonderful 5P essay.

Please note: The matching Topic/Clincher is NOT required in this essay. BUT! The clincher of your conclusion should tie into the Title.

Here is a great model for your reference:

The "critique vocabulary chart" is on page 68 in your TWSS Notebook

Friday, March 22, 2013 (Class Plan)

Dear Class,

Today's class will be extremely informative. You will be viewing Andrew Pudewa teaching teachers! This is a part of the very class I took as part of my certification!
The first part of the class will be review for you. You will probably be nodding your head in agreement with Mr. Pudewa. Interestingly,  you will also understand why I teach the way I do!

There will be extra credit awarded to students who listen carefully, take notes, and can correctly answer these questions.

1) Who wrote the book, For Whom the Bell Tolls?

2) Does Mr. Pudewa like this book?

3) In the first essay (pg. 62) that Mr. Pudewa reads, which cartoonist does the author (Caroline / grade 5) like the most?

4) Does Mr. Pudewa count the sentence, "How persistent!" as a VSS/#6?
Why or why not?

5) What parts of the 5-paragraph essay should be written first?

6) Do you think YOU are ready to start incorporating smoother transitions into your essays?

7) Who is the Lady of the Lamp? (pg A-46)

8) Is it possible to write a 5 paragraph critique about a 1 paragraph Aesop's Fable?

9) Should you use the word, "I" in a book report or critique?

10) There is a GREAT Critique Vocabulary List on what page of your TWSS notebook?
